I recently started the Trail Walker Program from the Florida Forest Service. I decided my first trail should be Buncombe Hill in Tiger Bay State Forest, just a few miles from where I live. While out on the trail I came across this tree. The tree was knocked over, but not out. A new root system appears to be growing from what was the trunk, and a former branch is now the new trunk. This inspirational tree is a great metaphor for life: no matter what happens to you adjust, persevere, and keep growing.
